my 1% for the planet partnership

In the Buddhist tradition the concept of polishing often describes the process of learning and uncovering the pure, enlightened nature that we came into the world with. Polishing the mirror of our hearts to explore depths of consciousness, love and purpose.

Over this past year, I have been exploring how, or if my 12+ years of agency experience as a Designer and Art Director fits into the present. In this current economic climate rooted in extraction and profit, we are leaving our sacred lands scarred and depleted. I believe there is a way to allow organizations taking action to nurture our planet to flourish and thrive.

In Energy Anatomy, by Carolyn Myss, she describes an archetype within each of us called the Prostitute. This archetype describes our tendency to sell ourselves from a place rooted in fear. I’ve taken an inventory of what morals I’ve been willing to negotiate for perceived security and comfort and it’s time to move beyond that limitation.

So, as an exercise to begin to intergrate work, play and purpose I am calling in brands that are aligned and rooted in mission-based work of inclusiveness, sustainably, food and environmental stewardship. I’ve joined and committed 1% of my income in 2021 to 1% for the Planet, an organization supporting businesses and individuals taking responsibility for the environment. @1percentftp.
